Frequently Asked Questions
What does the phrase “Jesus is the vision” mean?
It means that when we look at Jesus, he shows us who God is and what God does (John 1:1-5, 14-18; Colossians 1:13-20; Hebrews 1:1-3), and he also shows us who we are and what we do (John 14:12; 1 John 4:17; Romans 6:3-8; 8:29; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Ephesians 5:1-2).
How do I use the Discipleship Map tool?
There are a number of different ways that you can use it! Go here to learn more.
Is this discipleship tool only for leaders who are using it to disciple new believers?
Nope! This tool is for anyone who is leading others along the path of discipleship to Jesus. It can also be adapted for use with everyone from brand new believers (even interested unbelievers!) to seasoned believers who feel the need to revisit the foundations of their faith for re-establishment.
How long does it take to go through all of the lessons of the Discipleship Map tool?
There is both a “condensed” version (4 lessons) and a “full” version (15 lessons), which can be used depending on the needs of the people you are leading. We recommend going through the lessons at a pace of no more than one per week, regardless of whether you are using the full or condensed version. It is also important to note that the purpose of the Discipleship Map tool is to establish people in living the life of discipleship, not just to communicate information. Because of that, it is essential that you take as long as you need with each lesson before progressing to the next one, not moving on until the people you are training are actually puting what they are learning into practice.
Is the Discipleship Map tool designed to be used only for adults, or is it adaptable for use with children?
It can be used for both adults and children, and the story-based lessons make it especially useful for children, though you may occasionally sense the need to condense the lessons/stories slightly for use with younger children.
How adaptable is the Discipleship Map tool for unique situations?
It’s very adaptable! If you have any questions about particularly unique situations which the information on this site does not help you to navigate, please feel free to reach out to us: [email protected]
Where can I get more information or resources for going deeper into the content of these lessons?
